Man With A Guitar.

                   mike's  musical  trivia.

As well as the info on Mike's Home page, here are a few other interesting facts about his musical life that have hitherto remained almost unknown.

The music you're now hearing is "Something Old, Something New", a song to be featured in Mike's next show.

OTHER INSTRUMENTS. In addition to the guitar, Mike has played  several other instruments onstage and in the recording studios. Details as follows:

DRUMS. Mike learnt to play the drums at school when he played in the school CCF military band. Whilst he was still at school, he occasionally played the drums in an old time music trio with a pianist and a violinist. This trio lasted for about a year and he was playing in the Sabres at the same time. A very busy schoolboy. He later played drums when the Vibratones were on tour in Germany, but only when the usual drummer was drunk and incapable of playing! Mike also succeeded in singing and  playing the guitar and the drums at the same time during a cabaret act in Hong Kong. The audience said afterwards that the sound was quite unbelievable!

KEYBOARDS. The piano was Mike's first instrument, but he soon abandoned it in favour of the guitar. When portable keyboards came in, Mike started to play again. He has continued to play (usually when no-one is listening!) through the years and he played keyboards on his album "The Sun Will Shine Again."

HARMONICA. As a child Mike would listen to his father playing the harmonica and thought he would give it a try. He did play harmonica on the original recording of his album, but then decided it wasn't quite up to scratch, so it was removed from that particular track.

BASS GUITAR. Mike has played bass on stage with a couple of bands in the long-distant past, but only for the money! And if there really was no other bass player available.
